Wine Cork Bulletin Board

Have you ever wondered what to do with all the corks that you have saved over the years?  I just can't bear to throw them away.  Well.... as I was strolling through Pinterest one day, I came across a wine cork bulletin board.  I knew that I didn't have enough corks of my own but my daughter's wedding was coming up and I knew just where to get some.  I asked the hotel if they would save me all of the corks from the wine and champagne that was being served.  I'm sure they thought I was asking so that I could keep track of what was consumed and purchased, but that was not the case.  I had an idea in mind for a cool house-warming gift for the newlyweds.  I collected 41 corks and created this simple bulletin board for the office in their new home.

The hardest part about making this bulletin board was cutting the corks in half without slicing your hand.  I used a very sharp knife and and a very sturdy hand and after cutting 3 or 4 I had my husband do the rest!!!!
I purchased a ready made 12x12 unpainted wood frame at Michaels for $5 and then painted it brown.

I then started adhering all the corks onto the back of the frame with my glue gun.  I didn't have as many champagne ones as wine so I created their initial with the champagne corks.
I added the Tim Holtz metal corners.

And here is the finished product, ready to hang in their home office!

A couple of leftover corks were used as push pins by removing the head and gluing the end of the pin into the cork.  Love this!
